Pengertian “How do you do?”

“How do you do?” sekilas memang terlihat seperti pertanyaan, tapi sebenarnya “How do you do?” adalah greeting atau salam. “How do you do?” sendiri tidak membutuhkan jawaban (no reply).

Maksud “How do you do?” tidak sama dengan “How are you?”.

“How do you do?” digunakan saat mengucapkan salam pada orang lain yang belum dikenal maksudnya itu adalah kali pertamanya bertemu.
